Frontwave Arena

3475 Hero Dr, Oceanside · 2 shows coming up · More in North County

The first crowd at Frontwave Arena came for gymnastics. Simone Biles and the Gold Over America Tour opened the building in September 2024, and the band Cake played the grand opening concert on October 5. The arena sits in El Corazon Park in inland Oceanside, next to the SoCal Sports Complex. Three groups with North County roots paid for it privately, at a cost of more than $80 million, and Frontwave Credit Union holds the naming rights.

Games most weeks, shows in between

Sports fill much of the calendar. The San Diego Clippers, the G League affiliate of the LA Clippers, play home games here, and so does the San Diego Sockers arena soccer team, with other home teams on the schedule as well. Concerts, comedy and family shows take the open dates. Country is part of the mix, KSON's holiday concert among it, and hip hop tours have played here too. Look for those nights on our country and folk and hip hop and rap pages.

Inside the arena

The arena lists its capacity at 7,500, and its chief executive has said plainly that not every show will use all of it. Concert setups vary, and a smaller show can close off part of the bowl. There are 16 suites and a large outdoor plaza.

  • Children 3 and older need their own ticket.
  • There is no re-entry once you leave a ticketed event.
  • The arena limits what bags you can carry, so read the policy before you pack.
  • Seat assignments, door times and the night's rules are on your ticket.

The 5, Highway 76 and the Sprinter

Oceanside is close to 40 miles north of downtown San Diego. From the south, the arena's own directions take the 5 north to the 78 east, then El Camino Real, Oceanside Boulevard and Rancho del Oro Drive. Coming from inland, Highway 76 has its own Rancho del Oro Drive exit. Every lot needs a parking pass, and the arena suggests buying one ahead of time.

The Sprinter's Rancho Del Oro station is the closest train stop, and the nearest bus stops are on Rancho del Oro Drive at El Corazon Drive. Coaster riders change to the Sprinter at the Oceanside Transit Center, about 5 miles from the arena. That works well on the way up. After a late show, check the schedule first, or settle on a driver who can make the long trip south.
