The 8 runs the length of Mission Valley, and the big rooms sit close to it. Three of them belong to San Diego State.

On the main campus, Viejas Arena opened in 1997 as Cox Arena and holds arena tours, while the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre nearby dates to 1941, when the college opened it as a Greek style theater. A few Trolley stops west, Snapdragon Stadium opened in 2022 on the site of the old Qualcomm Stadium, with room for 35,000.

Getting there

This is the easiest part of the county to reach without a car. The Green Line runs through the whole valley, from Old Town past Fashion Valley to an underground station at SDSU that sits a short walk from the arena and the Open Air Theatre. Snapdragon has its own stop, Stadium station, right on the stadium grounds. MTS posts a page for most big events and often adds trains after the show, and several stations along the line have parking for the ride in.

Check the sports calendar before you drive. Aztecs football, San Diego Wave and San Diego FC all play at Snapdragon, and campus game days fill the lots and the trains. On those nights, the Trolley still wins.
